The Challenge

*  As primary engines of growth, metropolitan areas offer a large range of employment opportunities, not only for innovation and technology related jobs but also non-innovation related jobs opportunities.

* Major cities attract people from all over the world.  But an intra-European labor migration has also started to rise within the EU, mainly because the free movement of people incited more Europeans to seek employment opportunities in other countries. This has led in the central member states to increasing numbers of workers from other European countries, particularly young people, resulting in new patterns of migration within Europe.
